The walk starts in the car park of Bar Restaurant Jimenez (famous for its copious and delicious tapas) and passes through the well-known trout-farming village of Rio Frio, passing alongside the stream where you will see wild trout swimming freely in the cold river. Take some bread with you to feed them. You pass up through old Rio Frio, passing one of the sources of the river, then out on tracks into olive and almond groves. The walk climbs up to Venta del Rayo, crossing the rail line, where there is a tapas bar whose owner's son is currently studying at Cambridge University. You go down a track to view a gorge and rail crossing on your left and work your way down through the delightful hamlet of La Atajea. You do a bit of orienteering to find the track back into Rio Frio and pass through a new housing development as you arrive back at the bar.
