A very pleasant five-mile walk along the north bank of the River Beauly, mostly on good paths (one section on a quiet country road). The route follows the river for two-thirds of the way and many salmon and sea trout will be seen leaping and except on Sundays, anglers trying to outwit them...
There are beautiful views of the broad river, often with Beaufort Castle (the ancestral home of the Frasers of Lovat) in the background. There are several pleasant mixed woods en route, mostly birch and oak, some of the latter very old, with farmland on the homeward route. The paths are good, so footwear is not a problem. It is a good family walk (with dog). Refreshments etc are available in nearby Beauly.
