The early part of the walk follows the riverbank (when full the Conon is a majestic river). In the middle section the path narrows and winds through alders, close to the river. The final third leaves the riverbank (to avoid disturbing anglers - the fishing is private) and runs along the edge of fields. This part can be muddy. The additional two miles round Dunglass Island are worth exploring.
Refreshments and toilets are in Conon Bridge.
