Starting from a convenient lay-by by the River Orwell, just outside Ipswich, you set off on the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Path. Passing through the pleasant little village of Freston and Cutlers Wood, you then press on to Wherstead at a much higher level. This affords excellent views over the Orwell and its splendid bridge, before you descend once more to return, parallel with the river, to your start point.

Between waymarks 3 and 4, at the junction of Freston Lodge, the instruction to 'cross a crossing track and continue on concrete with fields on both sides' is no longer possible since there is a 'no footpath' sign straight ahead. Instead, we turned left on the road, then right and right again, on road past Bond Hall, to pick up the bridleway passing Broom Knoll and picking up walk directions again at point 4. Lovely walk because of good surfaces. Will be beautiful when bluebells are out.

Brilliant walk - very easy and most of it on concrete.
