This level circular walk has a variety of rural scenery and agricultural land. Also, meadows, tracks, woods, crops, large ponds and even an old RAF camp. There are children’s amusements including a miniature railway in Royden Park. It's the variety of footpath quality and scenery that makes this walk so interesting. The broad bridle path in Royden Park is very busy on a fine day and the footpath next to the grange is a delight to walk with some magnificent landscape views of the distant Liverpool bay. The dead-end Frankby Stiles drive is very interesting for the high number of vehicles driving down to the very attractive fishery ponds, (the photo shows a fishing pond down Frankby Styles), and the popular horse riding school at Larton stables. Of particular interest are the most unusual concertina design lift-up footpath gates at the northern end of the walk. This is a shorter alternative circular walk to 7558.

This walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in between. It is good for dogs, but impossible for buggies and wheelchairs. There are picnic tables and bench seats in Royden Park. Some footpaths are very uneven; so suitable footwear will be strong trainers or stout shoes, but boots will be best. There will be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are also toilets and a café in the park, not far from the car park.
