This is a level circular walk with a variety of rural scenery, agricultural land meadows and tracks. There are also woods, crops, large ponds and even an old RAF camp. There are children's amusements, miniature railway, toilets and refreshments in Royden Park. It's the variety of footpath quality and scenery that makes this walk so delightful. The broad bridle path in Royden Park is very busy on a fine day and the one next to the grange is a very pleasant to walk with some magnificent landscape views of the distant Liverpool bay. The dead-end Frankby Stiles drive is very interesting for the high number of vehicles driving down to the very attractive fishery ponds, and the popular horse riding school at Larton stables. And this has no comparison with the quietness of the little used footpaths round the cornfields at the northern part of the walk, or the simple memorial to all the airmen who trained at the RAF camp. Of particular interest are the most unusual concertina design lift-up footpath gates at the northern end of the walk. (The photo shows a replica of a 1753 commemorative plate on the wall of China Plate Farmhouse). You will pass this on the walk, which is a longer alternative to walk 7565.

This walk is suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in between. It is good for dogs, but impossible for buggies and wheelchairs. There are picnic tables and bench seats in Royden Park. Some footpaths are very uneven; so suitable footwear will be strong trainers or stout shoes, but boots will be best. There will be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are also toilets and a café in Royden Park, not far from the car park.
