This is a fairly short walk taking you from Rushbrooke south of Bury St Edmunds across open fields to Sicklesmere. Along this section you will pass a beautiful post-medieval pump house dated to about 1600 and possibly associated with the nearby Rushbrooke Hall, which no longer exists.

The route joins the old railway line at Sicklesmere and follows it for a mile or so before heading north back towards the start of the walk and passes a secluded church along the way belonging to the parish of Little Welnetham.
