The walk has three main sections: first a walk along the banks of the River Clwyd north of Ruthin to the village of Rhewl, where there is a pub, The Drovers' Arms; then a steady climb through the woods of Nant Coed with a drop to a river. The last stage is an easy climb to a broad ridge with outstanding views of the nearby Clwydian Range, before a final drop to the outskirts of Ruthin.

I did this walk on 7th July 2019 and would agree that one section is tough going because the hay meadow had not been reaped. However, this is less than 1/2 mile of a walk that is over six miles long and these conditions will only be there for a short period of time. You will find this situation all over the country at this time of year. I am totally puzzled by the remark that the path is blocked by a new lodge. There is no obstruction anywhere. Waypoint 22 is a stile that looks exactly like the photo in the walk directions; there must be a misunderstanding somewhere.

Very disappointed with this walk. The farmers have not kept the paths clear on many of the fields which made the walk even in July rather a chore than a pleasure. Point 16-21 were really nice but we then came across a new lodge at a farm that completely blocked the footpath at point 22 where we ended up going through a garden. We can’t recommend this walk at all.
