This is an undemanding walk suitable for all the family and with plenty of potential for seeing the wildlife for which the forest is noted. Time of day and year, alertness and quietness of the party are among factors which will determine what you see, although the walk is short enough not to reach the boredom barrier for children. This is deservedly a very popular recreational area for families, walkers, cyclists and naturalists.
Forest Commission state (December 2006) that all forest trails have been re-opened.
