Here is a lovely coastal walk on the tough side of moderate, partly linear but with a loop either end for added variety. The route visits the little resorts along the 'Scottish Riviera' and if the return journey to Sandyhills is made, The Anchor Hotel in Kippford makes a most agreeable halfway stop for a pint and perhaps a 'shellfish special' lunch.
The moderate-plus grade is applicable because of the walk's length, its undulating route involving several climbs, its somewhat inadequate signage and the really rather poor state of parts of the path between Sandyhills and Rockcliffe.
Information for Dog Owners: this walk is mainly along clifftop paths but also across fields where livestock is sometimes present, therefore it is not considered at all suitable for dogs.
