Starting from Santa Agnes' wonderful little old church, our way meanders through peaceful countryside before entering the pine forest at the foothills of Puig d'en Racó. Soon we reach a junction of footpaths where we could opt for a diversion to visit the rocky bay called Cala d'en Sardina (see additional information) adding about two kilometres to the hike and about 200m to the height gained. Before long we are back in timeless open countryside and our way takes southwards to cross the Sant Mateu road and continue along the wide track that would take us to the Buscastell Valley, an absolute must to visit if you have the time.

After a short stretch we leave the track and follow a footpath that leads us up Puig d'en Francolí. The next stage takes us down towards the Pla de Corona and we have the most amazing views right across the plain, full of almond trees. These are ablaze with white blossom if you are lucky enough to be able to walk around mid-February. We descend to the San Mateu road again and walk along it briefly before climbing over a little hilltop community of houses to reach a footpath that leads us back past the cemetery to the church.
