From the church the walk takes us northwards through lovely unspoilt countryside, following a quiet lane. After about 1.7 kilometres, we leave the lane and continue briefly along a dirt road before we head off to pass through the ruins of an old farm. Sadly, so many of these abandoned farms can be found throughout the island.

We will skirt round a faint track and then head eastwards, passing under magnificent umbrella pines to reach the road that joins Santa Gertrudis and San Miguel. Crossing carefully, we continue briefly along a dirt road opposite before cutting across a field to meet another track. This we follow to join a quiet country lane. Before long we leave this lane, joining a wide track that takes us southwards through pinewoods.

Finally we take a track that crosses the course of the Rio de Santa Eularia. This can be running in wet conditions and you may have to step across. Shortly we are back at the outskirts of Santa Gertudis and simply retrace our footsteps to the delightful and popular pueblo.

Once again my thanks to Walkingworld member Gerrard Sweeney for checking this one out in March 2022. Glad to report no changes to the walk which remains a highly recommended little country ramble. Jim Arymar
