A four-hour walk in the west of Tenerife, with amazing views of the south-west coast, easily managed by using local bus services. The walk starts on a typical 'camino real' (royal path), a paved and walled narrow path which allowed neighbours to barter their produce with each other, usually carried by donkey. Many of these paths are now eroded but in Santiago del Teide, they are in excellent condition. There is a little boulder-hopping on a short uphill stretch an hour and a half into the walk, before descending once more.
