Starting from the lovely Wiltshire village of Seend with its attractive houses that stand along the road running through it, the route takes the footpath down the valley to Inmarsh, peaceful and beautiful. It climbs back up to Seend, leaving it to go down the other side to join the Kennet and Avon Canal for a short section along to Sells Green. The country lane back to Seend is quiet and uphill, with interesting dwellings and very pleasant scenes.

I'd reiterate Avril's comment. The section of road from WP3 is pretty hair raising. I would suggest you go straight on at WP3 and take the footpath right up to A361 and cross over and go up short section of road and path which leads you to the Barge Inn (excellent pub) and the K&A canal where you can cross over and resume the remainder of the walk on the towpath.

Despite the walk being very nice at the start and towards the end, it needs to be avoided. The walk along the road up to the village does not make for safe walking. Especially on the bend by the pub, as 2 car drivers both swerved at the shock of coming across 2 ramblers!

Wish I'd noticed the previous comments about the footpaths across the fields being closed before doing this walk! We tried to cut off the final road section at the end of this walk by following the footpath sign across the field only to find that there was no exit! This is a shame as the road was quite busy. The walk otherwise was pleasant, particularly by the side of the canal, and all instructions easy to follow.

The walk tells you to 'Turn right by Home Farm and walk alongside road' etc etc. However if you have the Ordnance Survey map 156 with you, do not attempt to follow several paths shown across fields to avoid road as they are no longer open.
