The first section of the Coastal Path begins at the north end of Southport and after using a footpath along an old sea-wall, turns inland to skirt the edge of a pleasure lake and some of the central attractions of the town. It then follows the coast road on a shared cycle track to a point near Birkdale Station. The walk may be continued or left at this point for the station which is not far away. This is one of a series of walks done from home during the 2020 lockdown.
