The walk starts at the car park for Dunwood Park in the town of Shaw and Crompton. You follow some suburban roads up and down inclines to pass Shaw Cricket Club. You then head across fields to reach open country. There is a series of downhill stretches before walking alongside the metro line and a small river. After crossing the metro line (authorized crossing point) you have a short but steep climb before dropping down through a farmyard and a small woodland to reach another housing area. You go through this area to reach more open countryside at the side of a golf club. There is another uphill section before passing behind another housing area. The last section follows a farm track which runs between another housing area and open countryside. It follows a big part of the Crompton Circuit. It crosses and walks alongside the River Beal. There are toilets and a café at Dunwood Park near the start of the walk. There are no other toilets. The start and finish of the walk are on map OL21, the rest of the walk is on Explorer 277. A number of paths are shown on the map but no longer exist or are not visible on the ground. One section of track, near the end, is not shown on the map. The general picture was taken between Waymarks 15 and 16.
