This route is a walk through the history of Sheffield. At the Cholera Monument, you are reminded of the risk to health from the squalor of nineteenth century city life. At the Kelham Island Museum you can discover how Sheffield gained world leadership in steel manufacture in the 19th Century. Weston Park is a reminder of the vast wealth that was generated by the city in Victorian times; and as you walk past the thriving university, you start to reach an area of outstanding modern architecture and you witness the success of a city that has undergone major restoration. The Peace Gardens and Sheffield Winter Gardens make a stunning finish to the walk.
