On a day with clear skies the East going track from the start provides easy walking with views over attractive Lossburn Reservoir towards the larger mounds of Blairdenon and Bengengie. Pass the end of the track to the abandoned farm of Jerah and its tales of warlocks, witches, Romans and a sad family ending. When the track turns South a spread of the meanderings of the River Forth opens out.

The only strenuous section, which can require careful footings when wet, icy or snowy, starts at Waymark 3 when climbing is continuous for 1.2km until the summit of this baby of the Ochils is reached. As you reach the trig point, signal brazier and the impressive but unobtrusive Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders memorial, a 360° panorama emerges.

You will encounter others from this point as you join the well-defined and maintained path descending Westwards with yet more extensive views to South, East and West, including the Wallace Monument, Stirling and the Gargunnock escarpment.
