Walk begins in Shevington and crosses Mill Brook via footbridge before entering ex-coalmining sites (now woodland, scrub and ponds). It passes two ponds, once mine workings and a small war memorial, which seems out of place now the industrial heritage is no longer visible, into woodland. From here the walk enters open farmland and follows the boundary of Standish Park and the site of Standish Hall. This is the walk's highest point and offers good views west over Billinge and Beacon Ridges. Upon reaching the site of a hermitage the walk descends to re-cross Mill Brook before taking the footbridge over M6 motorway to access Shevington Green area. It follows the eastern boundary of Shevington Green onto and across Gathurst Golf Course before crossing the motorway back to the start.

Refreshments are at Waymark 12.
