The outward route is through woodland to Shouldham Village and back by country lanes through the village. There is an excellent pub, the King's Arms, which has an extensive menu and is open every day. The famous October conker championships used to take place at the King's Arms.
Many centuries ago Shouldham was famous for the healing waters of the chalybeate spring, a natural mineral water which was impregnated with iron salts. Shouldham was also a popular place centuries ago for its market and fair held each autumn.
