This short walk starts in the area of Noxon Park, where iron was mined in the 1800s and near the end is over coalbearing ground. Although the area is now quiet and rich in flowers and birdlife, in the past it boasted iron-mining, coalmining as well as a corn-mill at Oakwood Bottom. At Clements End, a flint axe-head was found in 1951. This polished greenstone axe-head dates from the Neolithic period of the Stone Age, 3000-1900 BC.
