A short but interesting walk: the woodland is rich in birdlife at all times of the year and the colours are lovely in the autumn.
This short walk starts in the area of Noxon Park, where iron was mined in the 1800s and near the end is over coalbearing ground. Although the area is now quiet and rich in flowers and birdlife, in the past it boasted iron-mining, coalmining as well as a corn-mill at Oakwood Bottom.
It is mostly on good paths and forest tracks, with some gradual uphills, but nothing too taxing. However the first few waymarks involve some navigation where the path across fields is not immediately visible. Using the app may be helpful.
