The walk is in two parts separated by a short (300m) walk on a minor road. The two parts are in contrast, the first containing narrower and newer trails, the second with older, broader (and muddier) tracks. There are views to the Black Isle. In wet weather some of the paths can be muddy, so appropriate footwear is necessary.

Handy location and can be split into shorter walks. The Balloch side is much dryer than indicated as the felling has stopped here but is now going on at the Culloden side. Area around the Prisoner's Stone is completely clear. Good for dogs but take care of road and railway line.
