This excellent walk was originated by Tony Brotherton but from December 2014 is being maintained by Chris French.

Superb panoramic views characterise this airy walk amongst heathland, hills and deciduous woodland, with two fine pubs strategically placed along your route.
In winter some patches can be very muddy - in summer, conversely, some narrow paths can be rather overgrown.

This is beautiful walk; exhilaratingly scenic, open and quiet with virtually no road-walking. It’s also easily navigable so I assume the directions have been improved, although the missing field at WM11 remains AWOL. I’ve enjoyed many walks from this site without any particular desire to revisit them, but this is definitely one of the exceptions.

Overall a really good and varied walk, and on the day (25/5/15) we didn't encounter any livestock, so it was great for our dog also. However whilst I appreciate some of the given directions can be misinterpreted, I feel I must point out a couple of directions that weren't quite up to the mark. Ref 4 asks you to turn right at a house called Winterbourne Holt, except there is no name on the house! Having walked past it and then returning to it on instinct we then saw the squeeze stile, and looked at the house and garden again, but there was no name. Ref 11 misses a field out of the directions altogether. Once you have skirted the right hand edge of the first field, you need to enter a second field before reaching the stile in the top right corner. Regards Bob

We found this walk very difficult to follow from the guide unfortunately so not one of our favourites
