The Cotswold Way is a popular route to navigate the escarpment between the quintessential Cotswold villages of Snowshill and Stanton. However, it is not the only route affording great views whilst at the same time testing your lungs and legs.
This walk begins at Snowshill free car park and enjoys the character of the village as we head for Littleworth Wood. From here we descend on a quieter stone track which is 'a route with public access', arriving at The Mount Inn in Stanton. Stanton remains unspoilt and is reputed to be one of the most beautiful villages in the Cotswolds. We make our way through the village before climbing the escarpment on a bridleway with spectacular far-reaching views. The photo of Stanton in the walk summary was taken during the climb. At the top at Shenberrow, the route is easy-going as we head back to Snowshill. Please note, this walk is steep in places and may be muddy during wetter periods.
