If you are looking for a spectacular walk along Dorset's famous coastline then look no further than this five-mile route. It starts off at the pay-and-display car park, just above the cliffs next to Lulworth Caravan and Campsite and briefly heads away from the coast to pick up a footpath that takes you west, high above several small valleys that allow for open views down to the sea.

The route continues west to the 170m contour south of Chaldon Down before heading south to the South West Coast Path near White Nothe. A short detour to White Nothe is recommended if time allows. Once the coastal path has been reached then navigation is simple - follow the path east!

The South West Coast Path rises and falls numerous times over 300ft cliffs before reaching the main goal in the walk: Durdle Door. A natural rock arch next to two small shingle coves makes for a spectacular scene. Do take the path leading down to the beach to enjoy this amazing, unique coastal delight before returning to the car park via the 'tourist path'.

We did this walk on 20/5/19. However when we reached point 7 we decided that the coastal path on the hills was far too steep for us and too close to the edge of the cliff. Instead we took another path via the warren to reach point 5 and returned to the start the same way we came out. I'm surprised this walk is only rated moderate and that the description does not mention the steepness of the hills. Nevertheless we really enjoyed our version of the walk.
