The walk is on the southern edge of Southport, an area once the town tip but long since planted by the Forestry Commission as part of the Merseyside Forest and now Open Access land. Although it is not a large area I have been able to devise a walk of reasonable length without going over the same ground twice but covering most of the footpaths. There are good views from its modest height and in summer the area is full of birdlife.
