The walk takes you around the Tudor Speke Hall's formal gardens and then through mature woodland and open fields before a gentle climb onto the high embankment (called The Bund) that was built to shield the hall from the airbase (now John Lennon Airport) in WWII. The walk can easily be combined with a visit to the hall itself, while The Bund offers fine views across the Mersey to the Welsh hills.

An OK sort of walk. Didn't realise that to access the formal grounds, there's a charge of £4.95 per adult - which we paid. Not sure the walk was worth that. The walk also takes you outside the grounds and then back in via a different route - so not too sure if paying was absolutely neccessary. There is also a 'no dogs' sign once you're in the formal grounds unless you have an 'assistance dog', but no mention of that at the entrance. Our Yorkshire Terrier pretended to assist us. Watch your head in the tunnel if you're anything over 5ft 3ins. The 'Bund' is the highlight especially if you're a plane spotter. Good view of the airport take-offs. WP5 where it says 'To your left is an iron gate and to your right the path leads to a lawn' should be..... ' To your right is an iron gate and to your left the path leads to a lawn'.
