This is a cracking little walk that features delightful woods, lanes and a riverside track. The route starts from Spennymoor town centre and heads north along a series of lanes, woods and fields to arrive at the River Wear. The walk then keeps company with the river to just short of Croxdale viaduct before the route leaves the river and heads up through the delightful Coldstream Wood to pass through Tudhoe Village. Field and wooded dene walking then follows before the route returns back to Spennymoor.
From Spennymoor town centre the route heads past the beautifully appointed Victoria Jubilee Park before heading down an old mineral railway line followed by a lane, glorious woods and a field to arrive at Durham County’s very own River Wear. The route then for most part closely follows the path of the river to almost the Croxdale Viaduct. From here the route changes direction and heads south up through yet another glorious wood and through a series of panoramic fields to arrive into the charming village of Tudhoe. The final lap of the walk is along a hedge enclosed lane, a field, a glorious wooded dene and a long-grassed area to return back to Spennymoor town centre.
