A mostly flat walk in and around the former mining and ironworks town of Spennymoor. Railway paths, lanes, woods, fields and roads are a feature of this enjoyable short walk.
The walk starts from the town centre and soon intersects the Auckland Walk path on the trackbed of an old railway line. A section of pleasant lane-walking follows before the route passes through a deep wooded valley alongside a stream. The route then leaves the valley and takes to open fields to arrive into lovely old Tudhoe Village complete with village green and popular pub. Leaving the village the route then follows a section of surfaced tracks firstly through a grassed area, then alongside a housing estate, to emerge at St Andrew's Church on the eastern side of Spennymoor. Further pavement-walking follows as the route passes through Low Spennymoor before returning to the town centre car park.
