The coast here is exhilarating and has the added attraction for many people of the birdlife. The Visitor Centre is an excellent base, the cafe being run by the wife of a local farmer, with lots of home-made cakes on offer as well as jam and pickles according to season - as good an excuse for going for a walk as any! The walk is just long enough not to bore children, who will be able to have their own time on the sand. Spurn is a National Nature Reserve, so special is it for its birdlife, being the first place that many birds, including very rare visitors, reach after being blown across the North Sea.
