Wiltshire is a large county with huge areas dedicated to agriculture. This walk takes you through a typical section. It starts in the unassuming hamlet of Startley. Having walked the road through Startley, you immediately leave behind the traffic and the rest of the walk is on farm tracks and field-paths and through the village of Great Somerford.
At the time of compiling, the fields were all grass. An excellent feature is that the footpaths stand out well, being well-trodden. For a while it is adjacent to the embankment and viaduct carrying the main line from London to Bristol. The village of Great Somerford has a shop and a pub.
This walk was originally written by David Berry and is now maintained by Sean Meek.
