From the magnificent church in Steeple Aston, this wonderful little walk takes a marvellous woodland path to leave the village. Bridleways, paths and tracks follow in glorious rolling farmland, with wide vistas across the Cherwell Valley. Outlying farms add their own character to the lie of the land, which stretches as far as the eye can see, rich, green and pleasant. Steeple Aston is quite a sizeable village with varying buildings of stone that charm and appeal; a gem of bygone architecture.

A magical walk; between points 5 and 7 we were treated to the sight of 7 red kites displaying their aerobatics and then when we reached Whistlow Farm a whole crowd of house martins were picking up mud from a large puddle. After this point the walk deteriorated as the Road verge was high with grass and nettles. Getting to the stile at point 5 involved treading down 3 foot high weeds whilst the stile was covered in nettles. The diagonal after point 8 was across a cropped field with no discernible path whilst the walk back to Whistlow Farm was through high grass. Unfortunately the field at point 8 contained a bull so we detoured to point 9 via an adjoining field. The final challenge was the lack of a path through the 'huge crop field' at point 10.I suggest this walk should take a left turn just short of Whistlow Farm and pick up Ron and Jenny’s walk from there.
