Stockhill Wood - East Harptree Wood - Priddy Circles - Priddy Nine Barrows - Stockhill Wood

This walk manages to combine a bit of industrial history, a bit of pre-history and even a bit of modern industry, along with views of a local lake and a walk through fields and woods.

Priddy Barrows are 3,000-year-old burial chambers. Priddy Henges, which are sadly hard to see from the road, are enormous - Stonehenge is a very small younger brother by comparison.

Smitham Chimney is a remnant of the industrial revolution heritage which dots the area.

You start in a popular dog-walking area.

There are some lovely sections in this walk, but not enough to justify a long stretch on a very BUSY road. Wouldn’t repeat it.

We did enjoy the walk, and found it an interesting mix of woodland and open countryside. We can also recommend the 'Castle of Comfort' at 544533 (Between way points 24 & 25) for refreshments.
