This easy walk passes through grassy meadows, visits two remote villages and returns along the side of a beautiful, peaceful valley. It is excellent for wildflowers and birds in spring and summer, and for autumn colour.
The first part of the walk is through a vast expanse of meadowland, grazed by sheep. The hedgerows are good for butterflies and further on there are lovely views across woods and hills. After going gently downhill, the route continues along a narrow valley bounded by woodland on both sides. Then we venture briefly into woodland, soon climbing a gentle slope to emerge into parkland with mature trees overlooking Cowley Manor. This leads to the tiny, attractive village of Cowley.
From here, we take a grassy path leading to the peaceful village of Coberley with its traditional cottages. After passing through the village, we climb gently uphill to reach the Coldwell Valley. This next stretch along the side of the valley is particularly beautiful. The unimproved grassland on the valley slopes is full of a huge variety of wildflowers in spring and summer.
