Start from the recreation car park 100 yards down from the church. Follow the Stour Valley Path, then the bank of the River Box to arrive at Thorington Street, a small settlement with an imposing hall and studio. Move on along the edge of a reservoir inhabited by a variety of waterfowl, then stroll through the pleasant landscape of Tendring Hall Park, passing Tendring Hall Farm on the way. For the final leg of the walk use a short section of St Edmund Way, from which you have extensive views in all directions. Finally you arrive back at the church, opposite the grand old Guildhall and flanked by other interesting old buildings. On this walk you pass several old and large farmhouses. From the church, walk back to the car park at the start of the walk.
