There are two high points on this walk, one on each side of the valley and unusually they are both the same height, about 300 metres above sea level.
This walk can be split into two sections as follows:
Section 1) Outward. It starts in the hamlet of Stone Fold. From Stone Fold the route follows 'The Kings Highway' south to reach The Halo. There is then a section through woodland and down urban roads to reach the A56 (Haslingden Bypass). The bypass is crossed via a road-bridge to reach the edge of an industrial estate.
Section 2) Inward. After crossing the road-bridge there is a short section through the industrial estate before starting the second climb using rural roads and footpaths to reach the Rossendale Way. This is then followed using footpaths and rural roads back to the edge of the hamlet. There is then a short climb back to Stone Fold and then a short decline back to the start.
The walk is a mixture of tarmac roads, country lanes and footpaths. There are three stiles on this walk where dog walkers may have to help dogs over.
Street names are added for GPS users.
