An alternative and longer circular from the charming Cotswold village of Stretton-on-Fosse that goes to Paxford and Ebrington via Pudlicott Mill and passing Charingworth Grange on the return leg. The walk affords delightful, far-reaching countryside views and is varied over tracks, lanes and paths. There are pubs for refreshments at Paxford, Ebrington and at the finish in Stretton. At Paxford the route follows a brook through woodland, passing a pretty bridge (main photo). On a sunny day the sunlight penetrating the tree canopy provides a great photo opportunity. Beyond Pudlicott Mill, some recently landscaped grounds and waters add to the variety of the walk.

My husband and I walked this yesterday and although we agree with previous reviewer about the wonderful views we were very disappointed with the state of the footpaths and signs. Obviously some of the overgrown areas are due to the amount of rain we have had recently but the waymarked footpaths mentioned in directions were almost impassable and signs had been either removed or partially broken. Part of the walk near the farm had wired fencing across it and we ended up going through the actual farm. We felt that we were not welcome in the area with one field to cross having a 'danger bull in field' sign! The Cotswolds are such a great place to walk and usually we have no problems but we both agreed that this particular walk needs looking into because public rights of way are being abused by landowners.

I led a party of ten members of Hinckley Ramblers on this walk on Sunday 4th January 2015 and everyone enjoyed it very much; the views looking South from Stretton-on-Fosse were particularly spectacular. We were fortunate with the weather as the it was a sunny for most of the day and cold enough for most of the muddy spots to have frozen over. We enjoyed a welcome coffee stop in Paxford where the bus shelter provided us with a handy bench to sit on and we received a warm welcome at the Ebrington Arms where we enjoyed some of the local beers. The directions were good and the distance about right although we measured the total ascent at a little over 400m so it was slightly harder than we expected but this wasn't a problem.
