This walk was originally submitted by Brian & Anne Sandland. Walkingworld is very grateful for Sid Marks taking over the walk, April 2021. Walk titles and route directions may have changed since the walk was first published.

Sudbury is a very picturesque and historic small town in Suffolk. The walk starts from the station at the end of the Gainsborough Line (Suffolk was the home of the painter of that name).

Using a delightful path beside the river and stretches of dismantled railway track, as well as field-paths and country lanes, you visit Borley. This is a hamlet in Essex; (half the walk is in that county). Borley is very widely renowned as "the most haunted place in Britain". You have the opportunity to visit the church, Borley Place and the site of the old rectory - but take care if you go in July!
