The walk is varied and starts with a loop around the River Blyth to cross a bridge built for the railway now long closed. After Walberswick, we head out onto the marshes and find our way to Dunwich, once a town, but now with most of it lost to the sea, just a small, pretty village. Dunwich Greyfriars is passed as the route veers inland before reaching the actual coastline again at the National Trust Centre of Dunwich Heath. The rather ugly bulk of Sizewell Nuclear Power Station looms in the distance and marks the end of the section near Leiston. Minsmere RSPB sanctuary is adjacent to this last stage and more than worth a diversion if time permits.
