This is a very straightforward, gentle walk, forming a circuit round Sulhamstead House, the Police Training Centre. A short section of the Kennet and Avon Navigation is used, as well as some footpaths beside large fishing lakes, the legacy of the gravel-pits all over this part of the Thames Valley. Although there are a few footpaths in the area, a little use has to be made of quiet country lanes here and there to complete the round trip. The towpath is wide and an easy walk: some of the footpaths are narrower and a little more uneven. There are a couple of stiles involved as well as swing-gates. It is mainly flat, with a few gentle ups and downs.

An enjoyable route at any time of year. Two things to be aware of; you may well encounter cattle in the field at WM4 and the uneven footpath at WM6 will likely be extremely overgrown in summer, which makes the final section a little tricky.

Great little walk with a pleasant outlook over rolling fields with only a few gentle slopes to climb. The lanes that form part of this walk were very quiet and I was only passed by a vehicle a couple of times. I kept feeling that the terrain would look quite nice in the middle of winter, though it was enjoyable on the warm spring afternoon when I went.
