The walk starts at the Swift Valley Country Park, a popular area on the outskirts of Rugby. It follows the route of the old Oxford Canal, before the diversion through the new tunnels at Newbold. The former arm is now used for balancing the water level and has become a nature reserve, with much wildlife including otters being sighted. The walk continues on to the hamlet of Cosford, then over farmland to cross over the canal at Newbold, before following the towpath back to the start. Refreshments are available at Newbold (2 pubs) and also near the end of the walk, in the Elliots Field Retail Park.
