I devised this walk in early June and I've never seen and heard so many curlews! We start from Swinton Bivouac, where you can park all day for £3. There are toilets and a cafe - see their website for opening times. The main architechtural feature on the walk is the Druid's Temple, a 19th century folly styled like a prehistoric monument.
We walk through several sheep fields, so dogs must be kept under control at all times. Then we walk along the valley of the River Burn where there are lots of different species of birds to be seen. Towards the end we walk through Sole Beck Gill before we return to Swinton Bivouac back entrance.
