Tacolneston, pronounced 'Tackleston', is a linear village in the Norfolk countryside and provides the walk's start. Lanes lead via the Forncett Industrial Steam Museum to Hapton Hamlet and on to Fundenhall, really just an old church. The 200m Tacolneston transmission mast dominates the latter part of the walk and can be seen for miles around.
