The walk starts and ends at the entrance to Tandle Hill Country Park in Royton. It climbs through woodland to reach the highest point of the walk At this point there are there is a trig point and several other items of interest. After admiring the view the walk drops down to reach a rural road via steps and footpaths through the woodlands. This is followed past a farm to reach a second rural road which is followed past farms and houses to reach a suburban road. After a short uphill climb the route follows the route of a river passing houses to reach a small hamlet. The route continues alongside a stream and uphill between fields to reach the first rural road again. After a short section along the road the route returns to the start point passing through the park again using tarmacced footpaths.
