From the car park it's well worth walking a few metres north to the point (Tarbat Ness) to enjoy the panoramic views.
The path is good throughout the walk, with the option of beachcombing in places, where sandy beaches alternate with rocky headlands. The walk is not affected by the tide. At Waymark 04 you can scramble round the headland at low tide, but it's better to take the short path up the cliff whatever the tide.
Waymarks 06 and 07 are particularly interesting: one for the birdnesting cliff and the other for Ballone Castle.
Refreshments are in nearby Portmahomack.
This linear walk may be joined to Walk 3056 to make a circular route of eight miles; or to Walk 3042 to make an extended walk of 8.5 miles.
