A delightful short walk taking in Tarbet Castle and a circuit of the moorland above, with great views over the harbour and Loch Fyne.
You can visit Tarbert Castle, a strategic royal stronghold during the Middle Ages and one of three castles at Tarbert, either at the start or end of your walk. The tower dates back to 1494 when James IV visited the Western Highlands.
After leaving the castle compound the route climbs fairly steeply on grassy tracks which can be slippery (hence the 'Moderate' grading). The circuit gains enough height to provide fabulous views over Tarbert and the loch. There are various benches to stop at and take in the views. Both this and a shorter 1.5 mile walk are well-waymarked.
