Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track. This circular walk includes footpaths which are not often used, and towards the end so poorly signed the walk is borderline moderate grade.

Starting off along well used trails and surfaced paths through the delightful Portal golf and country club, almost half the walk is along very pleasant country lanes, returning through the town. Many of the fields are meadows and a few contain crops. The first part is very gently downhill, and the return route is up long but steeper slopes. The stiles are old but in fair order.

The walk is probably most suitable for teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Fair for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled, but boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts.

Down Tarporley High Street south of your parking place is a Spar general stores, Texaco petrol station, and the Foresters Arms where you should be able to find refreshments and toilets. If you Google them and book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with a drink; an excellent finish to a good walk. On your actual route there are no refreshments or useful facilities.

If there has recently been heavy rain, the paths could be muddy with numerous puddles.
