This is a delightful narrow belt of woodland on the southern edge of the village which is very popular with dog walkers. Jim Grogan's dream was that this piece of land should not be built on but should be saved for the community to enjoy forever. Hundreds of native hardwood trees have been planted, it has been brought back under management and wildlife is being encouraged, not least by over forty squirrel-proof nest boxes. There are no gradients steeper than 1:10 and no cross-slope issues. There are several short footpath loops for children to explore and there is a children's playground at the end of the rural Townfield Lane. You can then either retrace your steps or return along adjacent streets back to the start. And enjoy Grogan's walk.

This return walk is suitable for children, teenagers, senior citizens and anyone in-between. There is a picnic table and several bench seats, and the path has a level compacted surface and is over 1m wide throughout. The walk is also good for dogs, wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts. There are no refreshments or toilets on site, but they are available a short distance away at pubs in the village.
