Save Our Footpaths - get off the beaten track, the long return footpath of this circular walk is not often used and needs a bit of careful navigation. The scenery is rural and very pleasant but not spectacular. With two long footpaths and a long lane; (although when you arrive the daffodils may be gone), and two pubs and a chippy at the end, it will certainly be of interest to those who enjoy a bit of comfort at the finish of a good walk. If you're taking children you might not be able to pass the big ice-cream factory half way along the lane. There is a good mixture of footbridges and stiles, a couple a bit wonky but not too bad; and in summer expect to come across some farm animals. In winter you may pass some sheep and expect soggy fields with a bit of mud. Most of the route is quite flat but there are a few gentle and short slopes along the first footpath.
The walk is probably suitable for children, senior citizens and anyone in-between. Good for dogs, but hopeless for wheelchairs and buggies. Suitable footwear will be anything flat soled will but boots will be best and there should be no problems for anyone wearing shorts in summer. On your route, besides a bench seat and waste bin at the crossroads on the lane, the ice-cream factory shop also has a café and toilets. In Tattenhall village at the end of the walk are 2 pubs with toilets, a Spar, fish and chips shop, Chinese and Indian restaurants and a post office. If you book in advance you should be able to get a good meal with a drink at either the Sportsman's Arms or The Letters Inn; an excellent finish to a good walk.
