This is an easy walk although there is a bit of a bit of a hill in the middle, but here you can stop halfway up and admire the view of Tavistock and the surrounding tors. The walk has only been made possible by the opening up of the cycle track between Tavistock and Yelverton which takes you through a long since disused railway tunnel which drips water from the roof even in the summer.
You start high up above the River Walkham on Walreddon Down and pass by the picturesque Grenofen Bridge. The walk takes in open moor, country lanes and along a cycle track and through the steeply sloping wooded valley below West Down. At Point 5 you might want to do a short there-and-back excursion to see the Gem Bridge, which reinstated the old railway bridge across the Walkham Valley; it's only a five-minute walk in the opposite direction but well worth the little detour. At Waymark 4, before carrying on with the walk, Grenofen Bridge is well worth a visit; it's only a very short walk down to the bridge and a good place to stop for a drink.
